Unlike other varieties of peppers, these are served as snacks and they share the table with the best ham, the tortilla skewer or the designer montadito. To make them a whim you have to take them fried in an extra virgin olive oil and seasoned with a little coarse salt.
Originating from the Galician town of the same name and belonging to the Solanaceae family, the Padrón peppers are one of the hundreds of peppers that exist. In reality, like the rest of the peppers that are consumed in Europe, they are originally from Central America and it seems that from the 15th century they were introduced little by little.
